2007 TR3 6.6
Mauisails TR3 6.6 From PLANCHEMAG (March/April 2007 Issue):
Huge stability in high winds! Testers' Choice
Sailing and feeling:
This TR3 offers good power for early planning for a 6.6. The sail is softer mostly in the upper panels and delivers a great stability with a very high top speed. This sails is part of the easiest to sail with just enough back-hand pressure. A nice balanced speed/power ratio. Performance wise the TR3 has impressed. Its secret? An excellent balanced profile that gives just enough back-hand pressure in the medium wind to lift the board without being out of control in the gusts. We can then easily sail back upwind and save our energy while sailing!. jibing, the camber rotation is very good with a good speed out of the turn.
A pure race sail very high tech with a wide range of tuning that lets the rider sail full speed without getting tired. An excellent sail for a wide range of users.
Design:
The Team improves in 2007 with a wide sleeve on the TR3, 9 battens (8 tubular battens). The profile is moderately deep a twist that runs the entire leech. Downhauling is done by HAND ONLY.
Tester's Feedback (1.80m - 95kg):
The TR3 offers power, softness and stability. All necessary qualities to have fun in all conditions. I like the back-hand pressure in the medium wind to lift the board. It is very fast and ultra stable. A MUST.
